One person reads every message. Bug reports about a specific bank's statement format are the most useful thing you can send.
Reporting a statement that converted badly
A useful report usually contains four things:
- The bank or issuer name, and the country.
- What went wrong — columns merged, a description split into two rows, amounts came out as text.
- Which setting you tried (Fewer / Balanced / More columns).
- Optionally, a sample PDF.
On the sample: please redact it first. Open the PDF, black out your name, address, account number and balances — or replace the amounts with arbitrary numbers — and confirm the layout still shows the problem. Transaction descriptions and column positions are what matter for debugging; your actual purchases are not.
Sending a sample is entirely optional. A description of the layout, or a screenshot of the problem area with the data masked, is often enough.
Requesting a format
If a particular bank's statement consistently defeats the column detection, say which bank. Layout handling is generic rather than per-bank, but knowing which layouts fail is how the generic rules get better.
