Invoice to Excel Converter

Pull the line items out of an invoice PDF — description, quantity, unit price, tax, amount — and leave the billing addresses, logos and payment terms behind. Converted in your browser, so supplier terms and prices stay private.

Invoices are the hardest ordinary table

A bank statement is a single table with a consistent rhythm. An invoice is a collage: a logo, a two-column address block, a metadata strip with the invoice number and dates, then the item table, then a totals stack, then terms and a footer. Everything is laid out freely, and the item table is often the only part you actually want.

That is why this converter identifies the table by evidence rather than position. Real item rows contain numbers — quantities, prices, amounts. Address blocks and terms do not. The converter finds the densest run of numeric rows, takes the line above it as the header, and discards the rest of the page. On a normal invoice that means row one of your spreadsheet is Description / Qty / Unit price / Amount, not ACME SUPPLIES LTD.

Totals rows are kept because they carry numbers too, which is usually what you want: the subtotal and tax lines are the only place the arithmetic is stated explicitly. If they get in the way, delete them in the preview.

Practical notes

Invoices from a scan are a different problem. If the PDF is a scan of paper, the page is an image and there is no text to read. This tool says so plainly rather than emitting an empty sheet. You need OCR for that, and OCR on invoices usually needs a human to check it anyway.

FAQ

Can it read invoices from several different suppliers?

Yes, because nothing is hard-coded per supplier. The layout is re-detected for each document, so a PDF from one vendor and a PDF from another both work — you just convert them one at a time and stack the results.

Where did the invoice number and date go?

They sit above the item table, in what the converter treats as page furniture, so they are excluded when Only export the table is on. Turn that setting off to get every text line, or type the invoice number into the sheet yourself — it is one cell.

Does it split tax into its own column?

Only if the invoice does. If tax appears as its own line under the items, it becomes its own row. If it is a column in the item table, it stays a column. The converter reports the layout it found rather than imposing one.

Is my supplier pricing safe?

The file is parsed in the page. Nothing is transmitted, so there is nothing to intercept, retain or leak. This matters more for invoices than for statements: unit costs are commercially sensitive.
